Thornville Lodge #521 To Participate In Bicentennial Event

On June 21, 2008 Thornville Lodge #521 will be participating in the Bicentennial Parade & Re-Enactment of the Corner Stone Laying of the Ohio State House in Columbus, OH with a picnic following the events at the Ohio Historical Society next to the State Fairgrounds.

The days events will kick off at 10:00 a.m. with the parade down High Street from Nationwide Blvd. to the Ohio State House where the reenactment of the cornerstone ceremony for the State House will occur. Afterwards, all are invited to the Ohio Historical Society for fellowship and lunch.

The Grand Lodge has planed for transportation from the Ohio Historical Society to the State House and back at no charge for those who wish to park at the Historical Society (this is due to lack of parking downtown).

Bro. Ed Corns will be providing his truck for the parade for those who wish to ride or are not able to walk and would like to participate. Also, if you need a ride to and from the events from Thornville please contact Bro. Corns by clicking on the "RSVP" link below or by calling 740-258-5083.

Please RSVP no later than June 1, 2008 if you plan on attending.

Are You a Member or Do You Just Belong

By: Bro. Don Treiber, 32°

Pataskala Lodge # 404 & Hiram Lodge # 18

What happened to the feeling

you had some years ago

that made you want to join the Lodge

or, was it just for show.

Lodge was fun when you first came

the lectures, they were fine

so was the work put on each week

by those who made the time.

Dedication is shown by these few men

who carry the entire load

it's not easy giving time and self

without it getting old.

We haven't seen you for a while

and we wondered what went wrong

not heard your voice or seen your smile

why have you been gone so long?

Don't the lectures have the same appeal

they did when you were raised

or is it the work doesn't seem so real

or is it you need more praise

So, the question is yours to answer my brother

do you come to Lodge and join the throng

and offer support to one another

are you a member or do you just belong?
